Wishlists, NaNo, NeMo
Nov. 6th, 2005 08:39 pmLast year I was part of a major initiative on LJ called Holiday Wishes, whereby LJers would post up their wishlists for the end-of-year holidays and other LJers could grant them. I helped develop a Masterlist and maintained the community
holiday_wishes for a while. I got loads of wishes granted, and I granted some wishes too. It was loads of fun, getting random things in the mail!
I have a new wishlist now for this year. Do take a look at it. If you want to grant something (especially #1 & #2!) feel free to do so! And leave me links to your wishlists so that I can take a look and see what I can get you. This also applies to those of you not using LJ, so join in.
I got the Leadership Hat on Saturday partly because of the novel I'm writing for NaNoWriMo. Now I am quite a few days behind. ARGH! So much for being a leader! Damn writers block. Hopefully I'll catch up soon.
Some of us went out that night - I, Brianne, Neshat, Elizabeth, Yoga, Jessica, and Elizabeth & Jessica's host dad walked around Utrecht and went to a bar for drinks and chat. We ran into Yoshimi, Laurence, Marco, Dee Ann, Tom, and Melissa there - how random. I found a rose head lying on the ground...aww! After drinks we went to a couple of clubs nearby - the music was kind of boring though; at times it sounded like country music trying unsuccessfully to be dancey! We were the only ones dancing too - Jessica can really let it all out! I had to leave early because the buses stopped around midnight - managed to catch the last bus at the last minute, thank goodness.
Eston wrote me a poem about me being the recipient of the Leadership Hat - aww...
Phenomenal Woman:
You are a phenomenal woman,
Your strength and courage soars
Like an eagle over great heights
Your energy and optimism
Overwhelm obstacles and makes a way where there seems
to be none
You are a light and
May the light within you
Shine to the darkest parts of the world
And bring warmth to all.
Phenomenal woman
That’s you.
We went to NeMo today - it's basically a big science centre. It was loads of fun, though too bad some of the exhibits weren't working! I loved how they had a floor dedicated to the workings of the mind and of emotions. Apparently pictures of entrapped people and breastfeeding kids elicit the strongest reaction from me, while I don't react at all to naked women. Huh. Interesting.
Tomorrow - Antwerp! But first, The Hague. I need something else that's Dress Code 1 but all my clothes are a big creasy mess, ack. I'll probably end up wearing the Hat tomorrow, if only because I have nowhere else to put it. And besides, it's spiffy.
