Things I've Eaten

I figured I should make a continually-updating list of new foods I've tried during the trip. I've probably forgotten a few, but here goes:

Denver, Colorado, USA
* Meatloaf - tastes like somewhat undercooked hamburger
* Quesadillas - pretty good, but hard to dip
* Salisbury Steak - YUMM
* Chicken Pot Pie - not bad
* Quiche - host family: yum. Facility: not so yum.
* Biscotti - yum when given by United Airlines
* Rhubarb - uh no thank you
* Ice Cream Sandwich - the vanilla & chocolate ones are YUMM
* Hummus - GIMME MORE
* Diet Coke - surprisingly tasty; I can see why people order this a lot even with unhealthy foods
* Giant Stuffed Fajitas - how on earth are you supposed to finish the whole thing?!
* Black Beans - not bad

Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA
* Enchiladas - too cheesy and spicy for my taste
* Jalapeno chocolate - !!!!! but surprisingly addictive!
* Some other Mexican food whose name I can't remember - I don't think my stomach agrees with it

more to come as I travel...

Black beans are what the name inplies - beans that are black. They're cooked in some sort of sandyish stirfry way.

I'm sitting here, eating my black beans and rice, and reading your list, and I understand how you've never had most of them but then... Black beans! I had always had the idea that they were as universal as the rice they go so well with. Though I don't know what the sandyish stirfry way of cooking them is. I just eat them boiled (how they're cooked when canned).

Also, meatloaf varies GREATLY from recipe to recipe, so not all of it tastes undercooked. The way my mom makes it tastes best when the outside is burnt, so.

We don't eat a lot of beans back in Malaysia - let alone black beans! You can certainly find them, but it's not a main meal choice.

I supposed they are boiled - they just tasted like sandy stirfry when I ate them. XD

I'll see if I can badger another American family to get me meatloaf, just for comparison.

I think the Diet coke taste better when it's not made in Malaysia. Here, it tastes like something carbonated mixed with water, with no taste. :)

"Giant Stuffed Fajitas - how on earth are you supposed to finish the whole thing?!"

Simple. Be really hungry. And have an American-sized stomach.
